Hold FM
The Shoot

Payday has a radio station. It has played one record since 1993. La La walks in and takes the needle off. This page is the whole production, readable by anyone on the crew: what the camera captures on the day, what the stage does in camera, what AI builds around her, and what post finishes. The film below is the previs. Every frame of it was made the way the finished spot will be.

1 performer on camera 5 crew 1 day · white cyc 4 stage positions 14 shots 0 locations rented
01 · The Film

One record. Thirty-three years.
She ends it mid-phrase.

The hold music has a home: a self-running analog station broadcasting the same eight bars to every held phone in the country, the needle re-cued forever by a small brass machine. Nobody's fault; nobody's job. The script's record scratch is real here, the third pay emergency overloads the board, the needle rips, and into the first silence the station has ever aired she makes its first new broadcast. The loop doesn't fade out. It gets replaced.

Built toGive the campaign's sonic asset a body, a home and an on-camera death. The villain is a machine, so dignity survives; the product moment is heard, not explained. And every beat is stageable on a white cyc in one day.
02 · The Method

How one room becomes a station

Three rules run the whole day. Everyone on crew should know them; they decide every on-set question.

The camera carries her

Every La La performance is captured live on the cyc, the walk, the boss line, the speech, the hands on the machine. Her key light stays clean white in every setup, no colored light ever touches her face, so her plates drop into any generated world without a seam.

The stage takes the color

The two color events are real dimmer moves, in camera, on the day: the hold-red pulse while the lines stack up, and the Hello Yellow flood when the answer lands. The cyc is the biggest lighting instrument on the set. What the previs shows is what the board op performs.

AI carries the place

The station, corridor to gold records to monitor wall to the deck's world, is generated around her plates from the frames on this page. Identity rides one locked anchor in every frame of her. If it isn't her body or a prop she touches, it doesn't need to exist on the day.

03 · Who Is On Screen

One person. Everything else is craft.

Who / WhatHow it existsCapturedNotes for the day
La La AnthonyLiveAll coverage: frieze walk, boss line, turn, dead-air stillness, unwrap, the broadcast, hands on the deckWardrobe: tailored deep-navy suit over soft black crew. Sync dialogue first while the voice is fresh; VO wilds at wrap. Clean white key, every setup.
The caller, Line 1Live VoiceNever seen. The door shudders, a blank ticket slides under, the ask plays through the monitor speakerGrip rattles the door flat; art slides the card. Voice cast records remotely, no second performer on set.
Line 2 · the teletypeLivePractical prop chatters out a blank paper telegram, coiling to the floorPaper feed rig, hand-cranked off frame. Paper blank on both faces, always.
Line 3 · the monitor wallAIThe accidental screenshare: every CRT floods with the same dashboard of empty glowing shapesOn set it is a cyan flicker rig BEHIND her for the interactive light. The wall itself is generated.
The re-cue machineLiveHero prop: brass armature beside the platter, performing its three-inch ritual; the stall; the ripArt dept build, puppeteered off frame with a rod. The needle rip is shot AND recorded practical, it is the campaign's sound.
Young La La ×2AIThe memory windows: pastel parlor and amber radio-booth dioramas she walks pastEyeline tape marks on the cyc wall at window height. Nothing built.
The diner serverAIThe payoff vignette: a held phone flips yellow mid-loop, one hand arriving in disbeliefFully generated, one-off cast. No set, no extra, no location.
04 · The Shot List

Fourteen boards, three segments

Every board below is a true frame from the previs film, annotated as a direction board: composition thirds, motion and camera arrows, and tags marking what is captured live against what is generated. Chips top-left carry the shot's deal; top-right, its lens, height and move.

Straight down: the yellow sleeve square on the platter. · S3

The dayMacro bench, overhead rig: real printed sleeve on the real deck.
AI addsNothing.
SoundSwell to finish. Disclaimer type on screen six seconds or more (post).

Cut grammar the editor should hold: until shot 10, every cut lands where the loop restarts its eight bars. The edit itself is on hold. After the rip, cuts land on her phrasing. The film's single camera move is shot 12's push; it is earned by the speech and nothing else moves that way all day.

The two laws, then the four setups

Law one · her face

Clean white key from the book light in every setup. The red pulse, the cyan flicker and the yellow flood live on the cyc, the props and the room, never on her skin. This is what makes every plate compositable and every close-up honest.

Law two · color is a performance

The board op performs the film's grade live: hold-red pulses building through shots 07 to 09, everything dead for 10 and 11, and the Hello Yellow flood rising through 13. Rehearse the fades to the playback loop before first take.

Three new story mechanics ship with this film. First: a four-frame set where every frame carries a different interactive sticker: a music player that has been playing for 33 years, a poll with no wrong answer, a countdown that dies like the loop, and the tap-through. The stickers are staged here exactly as they overlay in the IG composer.
